My name is Ana Navarro. I am 19 years old and was born in Houston, Texas. I have lived all my life in Nicaragua (Central America), so I consider myself a 100% Nicaraguan, and that is where I discovered my passion for fashion.
I discovered my passion when I was in the ninth grade, around the time I had to choose what it was I wanted to do with my life. Ever since I was a little girl I would give my Barbie’s “makeovers” and when I discovered a needle and thread I made some adorable dog clothes. The day I really discovered my talent was the day of my cousin’s graduation. I had nothing to wear and no money for a new dress, so I improvised and transformed two dresses into a gorgeous little new black dress. That was the day my mother, the most important person in my life, told me I should really pursue fashion as a career. When it was time to apply to schools, I applied to FIDM, SCAD, Pratt and The Art Institute. I was accepted into all schools and after struggling between my choices, I finally decided to come to The Art Institute of Dallas where I began my journey to become a successful fashion designer.
One year later, I must say, I absolutely love my school and have never regretted my decision to come to The Art Institute. The knowledge I have gained is of immense value and I am really enjoying this adventure with amazing teachers and classmates, and a wonderfully supportive environment.
